Introduction
Juniper is an AI design tool for scientists
This project highlights AI’s potential to advance scientific discovery. To explore this, we created a web-based tool for AI-assisted slide creation. AI enables scientists to create slides 100x faster compared to traditional design tools.
There are two components available for demo: a layout editor and an icon designer.

FAQ
- Who is this tool for? Why use it?
- This tool is meant for scientists, whether in acadamia or industry. It improves on existing scientific illustration tools with the addition of an AI assistant and an open approach.
- What icons will be available at launch?
- The initial set of icons will focus on cell biology. Though we plan to expand into all areas of science. If the icon you need does not exist yet, you can create your own using the icon designer.
- How is the AI trained? How will you use my data?
- The AI assistant is mainly trained on synthetic training data. User generated training data is only used with your permission and you can opt out anytime.
- Is the tool available for use?

Thanks for checking out Juniper! I'm the creator behind the project.
A bit about me - I am an engineer based in Austin, Texas. Previously, I served as the Director of Engineering at Notable, a clinical-stage biotech focused on leukemia.
I care deeply about open science. For me, this means building tools that enable scientists to share ideas and data. If this resonates with you, I would love to hear from you!
